Content and Communications Leadership

I create user-centric content and communications strategies to engage key audiences, both external and internal. Known for collaborating with business stakeholders and inspiring teams, I have earned a reputation for excellence.

More About Me

I have been creating powerful content strategies for years, engaging B2B and internal audiences to meet goals in a range of industries.

Accomplishments

As Willis’s first Director of Digital Marketing and Communications, I developed a content marketing strategy that drove engagement and leads using a sharp focus on the audience. My leadership inspired some three dozen executives to contribute to a daily blog, which quickly led the industry with 40,000 page views per month.

More recently, my audience focus enabled my internal content strategy to increase global page views by 455% and newsletter click-throughs by 200% as Accenture's Global Internal Communications Lead. This, after increasing Accenture Strategy's newsletter open rate by up to 29% per quarter through rigorous A/B testing.

I'm still proud of my achievements for Oxfam International earlier in my career. I wrote the script for a video with Will.I.Am, Scarlett Johansson, and John Legend, which was immediately viewed almost 300,000 times. My team of international bloggers influenced the global conversation about a G8 Summit, generating 12% of all tweets about the event.

What I'm like to work with

Throughout my career, my leadership skills have given me an influence far beyond my role, elevating the excellence and effectiveness of teams and leaders across the company, through community-building, training, and counsel. More than one leader has said, "You made me better." Direct reports often call me "the best boss I ever had."

I am never happier than when I'm solving a problem. Combing through data to find the key to an audience's heart. Crafting just the right narrative for a brand. Leading a team to innovate a way to reach a new goal. Teaching others how to — well, how to do almost anything at all.

My top Gallup strengths are Strategic, Learner, Achiever, Relator, and Ideation.

Education

I hold a master’s degree in English from New York University. My bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College was also in English, accompanied by minors in graphic design and history. I'm currently working toward accreditation in generative AI prompting.

Outside of work

I'm a member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the Content Marketing Institute. I'm also an active member of a major U.S. political party, getting out the vote each election season and training others to do the same.

With very little prompting, I will bend your ear about my young Shih Tzu, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Oxford comma, or the latest book, article, or podcast I've consumed.

I live in New York's Hell's Kitchen.

CMO Accenture Strategy

"It's not often you get to work with someone like Julie who has the ability to produce strategy, implement with great attention to detail and then follow through with meaningful KPIs and reporting. I learned a lot from her and saw her as a trusted advisor."

Director of Internal Communications, Accenture

"Julie is not only a deeply skilled storyteller but also an adept leader in content strategy and execution. Her ability to craft compelling narratives and engage diverse audiences consistently elevated our team's work, making her an invaluable asset."

Internal Communications Lead, Accenture Strategy

"Julie is a top notch professional and I found her to be a brilliant online strategist. A careful listener, she quickly understands the needs and goals of the client and then provides experience-based insight in refreshingly clear, simple language. With her guidance we went from concept paper to Webby Award winning website in less than two years."

Director of Marketing and Communications
NPR's Justice Talking

"Before hiring Julie for the second time, I introduced her to the CEO as someone whom we needed to have on board not only for the existing job opening, but also for all the amazing things she could and would do that hadn't yet entered our imagination. I was correct."
